Info 2d, for Elgey, The Wharram Sisters | Close info Window |
The Yorkshire Herald Saturday October 19th 1912
Mr R Wharram, Fridaythorpe entertained a few friends including four aunts
(all sisters whose total ages were 337 years.) Their ages were respectively
Mrs Clarkson (Wetwang) 87 ,
Mrs Leake (Market Weighton) 80 (should be 85)
Mrs Brigham (Rowland Hill, Yapham) 83,
Mrs Richardson (Pocklington) 81.
The gathering of these ladies was most interesting from the fact that the farm
was their birth place, and had been occupied by their family for four
generations or more.
The host, who by the way was their oldest nephew,
provided the motor car to convey them, and, being their first ride in one,
they greatly enjoyed it.

It is said that nobody would dare to sit at the wheel but my great
grandmother. Jane Brigham.
