Initially Harry was homesick, but his sister Kathrine(Kitty) asked Friends to write to him, amongst whom was Kitty's Old School Friend Frances Elieen Richardson, who was a bridsmaid at Kitty's wedding in September 1927, from which a romance blossomed, and a marriage proposal and acceptace.

when Frances told he mother, Louisa, that she was going to Kenya to marry Harry, Louisa didn’t speak to her daughter for 3 months.

However, Frances's Uncle Gervase henry Roberts and his son George William bought her ticket for the boat, got her a trunk and helped her get all she needed in the way of clothes, and finally took her down to the docks and saw her off on the boat.
Frances arrived in Mombassa Kenya on the 10th January 1930 , and was married the same day.
