GISBOURNE A quiet wedding was solemnised at Holy Trinity Church this afternoon, when Donald Cranswick, ninth son of Mr and Mrs, John Cranswick, of Scalby Yorkshire, was united to Miss Edith Crompton, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Crompton, of Bridlington, Yorkshire, England. The Rev. Canon Paacke conducted the service. The bride was given away by Mr. G. Stockdale, and the office of best man was filled by Mr, A. Stock. The bride was faultlessly dressed in a teal grey costume, and carried a beautiful bouquet of coreopsis. |

SHEEP DOG TRIALS GREAT SUCCESS, NORTH ISLAND MEETING THE FINAL EVENT PLACINGS IN HUNTAWAY The North Island sheep dog trials championships concluded at Ohaeawai yesterday, when the final event, the Huntaway, was decided. Attendances throughout the four days have been large, and the meeting has been successful from every point of view. ...(snip) HOW THEY WORKED. JUDGE’S SUMMARY. Possible Points. —Head 10, pull 10, drive 4, hurdles 4, drive 4, work at yard 10, yarding 6, command 12; total 60. D. Cranswick (Gisborne) Dictator. —Cast to left; ran out on rather wide line; came in and made excellent finish in 1.374. Made steady lift; sheep broke to right; good recovery; then brought sheep down on good line at fairly even pace under good control to foot of hill; let sheep slightly off course to right; and then good line to flags in 5.53. Good control and even pace in first drive; through hurdles first attempt; let sheep out once in second drive; made quick recovery and good finish; made an excellent yard in 13.214, with sheep in good condition.
