Info 4a, John Chatterton Close info Window

Although John Chatterton was christened at
Tivot Dale Wesleyan church, Heaton Norris
his birth is given as Mottram, less than a mile from hamlet of NewYork, Charlesworth
Given all his siblings were Christened at St Mary, Charlesworth and listed as born New York it would seem unlikely they had moved, rather the register had just named the nearest Town; New York being almost half way between Mottram and Charlesworth.

The 9th nov 1806 was a Thurday suggesting that his father Edward was more than a labourer and able to to take time off to travel and had transport to make the long journey.
Confirmation of John's birthplace comes from the following;

"A REGISTER FOR THE PEOPLE CALLED METHODISTS,
STOCKPORT IN THE COUNTY OF CHESTER"

John Chatterton re married to
Hannah Lavine on 27 May 1865 is more certain.
He was a widower aged 58 and was a provision dealer living in Crumpsall.
He named his father as Edward, occupation spinner.

Hannah Lavine was 42 and a spinster. She was living in Blackley
and her father was Charles, a smith.

One of the witnesses was Sarah Lavine (Hannah's younger Sister?) which is about the only thing that points back to the Hannah Lavin found living in Dukinfield in the 1861 census
