Pahiatua Herald,   11th September 1923
Dairying at Eketahuna Kaiparoro Cheese
Mr Crookenden considered that by making a dry cheese the company had lost £445. Was it worth losing that money for the sake of a few seccond-grade cheese which would still realise quite a good price at Home

Mr Crookenden said the land appeared at four or five times its actual value, and should be brought down. It appeared now at the price paid for it and since then a building had been burnt down. Then there were five Bristol and Dominions shares; which should have been written off.

The chairman said the plant value m&re than made up for the land, it was only since the balance-sheet was issued that they had official information that the Bristol and Dominions Co. had been liquidated. The amount would come off this season.
Mr Crookenden pointed out that a joint and several bad been signed by principally non-suppliers now and it was a fair thing if their interests were protected. The majority of the present directors were not on the joint and several. It was further suggested that the directors should be required to sign but the chairman said compulsion could not be applied unless the Articles of Association were altered. There was some complaint at the factory only paying out 1s od.
A motion that the balance sheet he referred back to the directors was lost by 9 votes, to 6.
The chairman decided against block voting. The dry shareholders now exceeded suppliers.
The meeting decided against the formation of a herd-testing association. It supported the Dairy Export Control Bill, and also resolved to purchase vells and manufacture its own rennet. It was decided that any balance be divided among suppliers, and that directors be paid 10s for each monthly meeting and the chairman, £1.

Edward died 02jan1932 Etetahuna, Wellington Buried Mauriceville, Wairerapa
