LOCAL NEWS
The Funeral of the late Mr. Thomas Oakes, of Stoney Street, Smethwick, took place at Holy Trinity Church last Tuesday. The Mouners were the deceased's widow, five sons and four daughters.
The Service was conducted by the midant-curate Rev.J.S. Dixon.

LOCAL NEWS
The death of Mrs. Thomas Oakes of Stoney Street, removes an interesting personality and a link with an old Smethwick industry. The late Mr. Oakes was one of the few Well-Sinkers in the dsitrict at a time when that calling was very nessesary, because the water supply had not been furnished by the company.
Mrs Oakes was buried at Holy Trinity Church on Monday. She had been associated with the parish all her life, being 77 years of age. There were many manifestations of sympathy on the occasion of the funeral.
The mourners included;
Mr. G Oakes, Mr. A. Oakes, Mr. T. oakes, Mr. Charles Oakes (sons).
Mrs. Fidoe, Mrs Alexander, and Mrs Vanhear (daughters),
Mr. W. Poulton (brother -in-law), Mr. T. Oakes Miss Howlett, Miss F Oakes (grandchildren) Mr. G. Fidoe and Mr. H. Alexander (sons-in-law) Mrs. W. Oakes (Doncaster, dau-in-law); Mr J. Gentle and Mr. J. Mirthwaite of London; Mrs Fidoe jun.
