FATAL FALL DOWN WELL On Monday a man named John Oakes, a Well sinker, of Matthew Street, Smethwick was engaged at a Well connected with Taylor's Foundry, Crockett's Lane, when the rope broke, and he was precipitated to the bottom, a distance of sixty feet He sustained very serious injuries, and Dr Jackson, who was called in, ordered his removal to the General Hospital, where he died on Wednesday evening. |
